The future of transport is intermodal

In a major effort to offer companies lower logistics costs while meeting societal demands for reduced fossil fuel consumption, we at Hallands Hamnar are working towards becoming a central hub for intermodal transport in Northern Europe.

What are the benefits of intermodal transport?

Intermodal transport means that the goods in question remain untouched—whether they are in a container or trailer—but easily switch transport modes, from and to train, truck, and ship.

The advantages are many, but some of the greatest include improved transport frequency, higher cost efficiency, more effective use of energy, and of course, reduced combustion of fossil fuels.

Ports of Halland – an important hub in an intermodal transport network

The shift to a more climate-smart intermodal transport network is a joint effort; all parties within the logistics industry must participate. However, we are convinced that we can lead the way. With an excellent geographical location on the west coast of southern Sweden, our ports together form a natural cargo hub for Northern Europe's shipping, railway, and road networks—a climate-smart and cost-effective stopover for goods to and from Scandinavia.
