The beer boom is creating high demand in Halmstad

Since its founding in 1883, Finnish Viking Malt has been a pioneer in the malting industry. Today, the company produces around 650,000 tons of malt annually, making it the ninth largest producer in the world. In Halmstad, Viking Malt has been operational since 1997 and has been collaborating with Hallands Hamnar for almost as long.

The increased beer consumption in recent years has had a significant impact on Viking Malt's facility in Halmstad, which is now one of Sweden's leading processors of Swedish agricultural raw materials. "We provide high-quality malt products to breweries, distilleries, and food manufacturers, enabling them to create outstanding products." explains Jirapha Liangsiri, CEO of Viking Malt. "The long collaboration with Hallands Hamnar has been crucial to our success." she adds. "One of the biggest advantages has been our ability to load and unload ships directly at our facility, which has reduced handling and optimized our costs.

Thanks to our collaboration with Hallands Hamnar, we have been able to maintain and strengthen our competitiveness.

Hallands Hamnar has not only assisted Viking Malt with logistical challenges but has also actively supported them in other ways. A good example is when Viking Malt needed to place a conveyor belt on land outside their own. Hallands Hamnar proposed a solution that allowed Viking Malt to lease the land, which turned out to be crucial for their development. "Thanks to our collaboration with Hallands Hamnar, we have been able to maintain and strengthen our competitiveness. The logistical efficiencies have been significant, resulting in considerable time and cost savings," emphasizes Liangsiri.

Over time, the collaboration has grown and now includes regular quarterly meetings where both strategic and operational issues are discussed. "Our strategic and operational collaboration is central to our success," highlights Liangsiri. "We look forward to continuing the close collaboration with Hallands Hamnar, aiming for further expansion and efficiency improvements," she concludes.
