Oceanhamnen
As part of a major infrastructure and logistics investment in Halmstad municipality, we are expanding Ocean Port. The work is expected to be completed in the winter of 2025/spring of 2026.
About the project
With an investment of 700 million SEK over the next five years, the expansion of Ocean Port is a central part of Halmstad's major infrastructure initiative. The project, which is a comprehensive investment, includes not only the expansion of Ocean Port and phase two of the Southern Entrance, but also the establishment of new railway tracks. As part of this ambitious development project, we are also investigating the possibilities of building a combined terminal. Such a terminal would further enhance the efficiency and flexibility of cargo transportation to and from the port, enabling smooth transshipment between different modes of transport. The goal of this extensive development project is to create added value for the port's customers and to streamline and simplify cargo transport, which in turn strengthens both regional and international trade..
Background
The expansion is a strategic response to future logistics needs and part of Halmstad's vision to strengthen its position as a leading logistics hub in the Nordic region. This vision is based on a long-term analysis of global trade patterns, technological advancements, and an increased demand for sustainable transport solutions. Halmstad's geographical location, together with historical successes in trade and industry, offers unique conditions to become a hub for efficient and environmentally friendly logistics flows. By investing in Ocean Port and its associated infrastructure, the city prepares itself to meet tomorrow's challenges, promote economic growth, and contribute to sustainable development at both local and international levels.
Benefits
